Youth to youth Program
PROJECT SUMMARY
MPYRAA focuses on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, promotion of gender equitable norms aiming to establish a community free of the abuse and violence against the fundamental rights of the youths and women. MPYRAA also focuses on community development, provision of care and support to people leaving above 60 years and above all use innovative and creative means to fight against HIV/AIDS in our community.
Despite much efforts by various organizations and government parastatals to fight against HIV/AIDS, many youths still indulge in unsafe sex, excessive drinking and smoking and end up benefitting from all the negative effects these can contribute to their lives such as dropping out of school and increase in the number of HIV/AIDS infected persons. Many young people also get into high schools and universities without knowing exactly what to study with regards to the current labour demands and hence come out being unsatisfied with what they studied and unemployed. Furthermore, most youths lack the necessary skills and knowledge on entrepreneurship that can help them to be self-employed during or after studies. Consequently, in line with our youth empowerment and entrepreneurship goal, we are embarking on a project tagged YOUTH2YOUTH, that involves all the secondary and High schools within the Tiko municipality. Already, collaboration has been secured from all the schools concerned (a total of seven schools) and the program is ongoing in some. This project is designed to address issues such as HIV/AIDS and Health related issues, career orientation, youth entrepreneurship, leadership and communication skills and social responsibility amongst others through interactive sessions with youths in these secondary schools.
