MPYRAA organizes summer holiday workshop - EVASION
MPYRAA has understood that holiday periods are times for children to
refresh, but we also think in the face of our social realities like sex
abuse, pornography, alcoholism etc which are all inextricably linked to
the spread of HIV/AIDS, that youths should engage in a meaningful and
beneficial campaign during the holidays. AIDS Free Holidays is a program
MPYRAA has been running for a while and it is characterized of Drama
and sketches on the societal ills especially those that lead to the
spread of HIV/AIDS.
A novelty in this regard was introduced a
year ago and was dubbed EVASION, having a catalogue of activities
ranging from Brain Storming (Quizzes), Sack Hopping, Dancing, Arts and
Crafts display, Thug of War, Sugar and Thread, Ball and Basket, Blind
game, Eating Competition and many other interesting activities. This
MPYRAA is convinced keeps the youths focused and diverts their attention
from many wrong doings.
The program aimed at forming teams at
the various quarters and youth associations of Tiko that will
participate during the competition. The competition will include items
like; Quizzes,
We were able to get participation from 8 different
teams making the largest youth event to be ever organized in the
municipality, as there was an average of at least 200 youths during each
event, this provided us with the much needed attention to distribute
flyers and other relevant materials to promote our cause. The program
was greatly supported by the entire community notably the D.O’s Office
and Mayor of the Tiko Council.
